De Colores 2010-2008
This series of paintings called “de Colores” is the blend of two elements which are incredibly powerful for me: colours and the female figure. It is through them that I have been able to study the richness and complexity of feelings, emotions and perceptions.
Much has been said and written about colours and their characteristics. Physicists, on the one hand, claim that colour is “light”. They talk about a collection of radiations called white light, that as they make contact with water particles, form an extraordinary phenomenon: the rainbow.
Psychologists, however, look into human reaction to colour, stating that colour affects each one of us in different ways. People’s response to colour is subjective, and results from our social, cultural and psychological background.
In Art, academics assert that colour is in “relation to“; the perception that a colour creates depends on its intensity, space, shape and size in relation to others, In my opinion, colours hold the magic of expressing it all.
With respect to the female figures in my paintings, I would say that they are my beautiful yet imperfect muses who inspire me by whispering in my ear the passions of our delicate soul.
Once again, it is my wish to present images that provoke and arouse profound feelings. Open your heart and let these feelings move you to take part in an honest dialogue that can enrich us both.
